Reporting to the Associate Director of CMEI, this position is responsible for the management of the Brother to Brother (B2B) Program. The Program Coordinator will do the following: recruit, train, and supervise peer leaders and mentors; plan program events; create marketing strategies; assist with data collection/tracking; program assessment; provide direct student support services; coordinate and train mentors/coaches. The program coordinator will demonstrate success in the recruitment and retention of male-identified students of color (with focus on Black/African American, Indigenous, and Latino males). The Program Coordinator will assist with peer leader group development and enrichment workshops for B2B students. The Program Coordinator is an active collaborator with academic departments and student affairs functional areas to enhance and strengthen existing B2B programming within the MSU Denver community, and to promote the development of new B2B programming where it currently does not exist. The Program Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of CMEI B2B student staff, leads their training and development, and is both innovative and strategic in setting the overall programming agenda for the B2B Program.

IND208 Duties/Responsibilities
30%- B2B Program Management
•Implement programming and other activities for the B2B Program. This includes but is not limited to the following: communication, support, and outreach to B2B students, and success mentors/coaches.
•Provide support services to students through direct contact and programming. Support services include the following: advising/coaching, assistance with class registration, career planning, referrals to appropriate resources on and off campus, assistance with financial aid forms; applications, and appeals, goal/future planning, encouraging students to participate in campus activities, academic guidance, and tracking of academic progress.
•This position will promote, support, and participate in multicultural and diversity initiatives to positively impact student retention and graduation rates.
•This position will be responsible for using applicable tools to ensure that program participation, outcomes, and retention and graduation rates are documented.

20%- CMEI Programming
•As part of the CMEI team, attend and engage in staff meetings, and actively contribute to CMEI equity programming and projects.
•Collaborates with colleagues in CMEI, the Center for Equity and Student Achievement, Student Affairs, and Office of Diversity and Inclusion as well as with academic Deans, department chairs, and faculty to ensure integration of academic co-curricular programming across the university.
•Actively participate in committees and working groups related to equity and student engagement.
•Lead and/or contribute to special projects and/or initiatives, as requested that relate to equitable student engagement.
•Participate in trainings and relevant professional development activities to support professional and/or departmental growth. Work to operationalize and/or integrate learning from these trainings into the work unit and work processes.
•Be an innovator, a disrupter, and a change agent for equity and student engagement. Strive to recognize inequities in the work and in oneself and strive to do better. Seek out opportunities to take [calculated] risks in support of a more engaged and equitable student community at MSU Denver.

15%- Supervision
•This position will be responsible for selecting, hiring, and developing peer leaders and mentors to support the growth and management of the program.
•The Program Coordinator must be able to provide quality supervision to peer leaders and mentors. Quality supervision includes the following: conducting performance evaluations, on time feedback, training, and leadership development.

15%- Marketing and Event Planning
•This position will work to implement creative marketing strategies for the campus community regarding B2B.
•Various forms of communication will be used in marketing to include social media, print, and website content.
•The coordinator will work with the Associate Director to develop strategies to enhance student participation in B2B events. This includes creating meaningful and interesting events that are specific to the needs of male-identified students of color (with focus on Black/African American, Indigenous, and Latino males). The Program Coordinator will evaluate/assess effectiveness of marketing strategies and events.

10%- Equity and Diversity
•Initiate, support, promote, and participate in equity and diversity initiatives, with specific attention to initiatives pertinent to the B2B program.

5%- Assessment of B2B Program
•This position will assist in ongoing evaluation and assessment of student learning outcomes and student satisfaction of the B2B Program.
•The Program Coordinator will assist with the creation of assessment tools, data collection, and reporting to continuously develop new and innovative student support programs grounded in theory and best practices.

5%- Other Duties as Assigned
•Perform additional duties as assigned by the Associate Director of CMEI . Required Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree in education, human behavior, counseling, social work, or other closely related field.
•Must have a minimum of two years related experience (post-baccalaureate degree) working with students in academic support.
•Experience guiding students through or to higher education to include efforts focused on higher education access, major declaration, graduate school preparation, or career evaluation.
•Experience working in a program or service focused on providing supportive services to male-identified students of color (emphasis on Black/African American, Indigenous, or Latino males).
•Experience creating and implementing training or workshops.

• Master’s Degree in higher education administration, student affairs, education leadership, counseling, social work, or a related field.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•At least 1 year of experience providing supervision and performance management over staff.
•At least 2 years of experience providing academic advising/support in higher education.
•Proven experience of successful collaboration with teams.
•Knowledge of student retention theories and practices.
•Experience using research related to male students of color to assist and support them in their goals.
•Experience conducting data analysis of student learning outcomes and/or program evaluation for improvement.
•Experience managing multiple projects at one time.
•Knowledge of financial aid and scholarships and experience directing students to these resources.
