Position Purpose

The University of Central Missouri is seeking applications for one full-time assistant professor or instructor faculty position. Position is a tenure track or a non-tenure track level depending on the qualifications. Appointment to begin August 2022, in large undergraduate and graduate
programs emphasizing occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental management.

Responsibilities:
  • Instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses through a variety of delivery methods.
  • Curriculum development in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Student academic advisement and recruitment.
  • Lead and advise safety sciences student organizations.
  • Consulting and interaction with university schools/departments/administration, industry, and government.
  • Engagement in service activity for the benefit of students and the programs.
  • Tenure-track position requires engagement in service and scholarly activity as outlined by promotion and tenure requirements.

Other Education & Formal Training

Tenure-Track Position:
  • PhD degree from a Regionally Accredited University with an academic background in industrial hygiene or related field required.
  • CIH professional certification required.
  • CSP professional certification preferred.
Non-Tenure Track Position:
  • Master’s degree from a Regionally Accredited University with an academic background in industrial hygiene, safety, or related field required.
  • CSP or other professional certifications required. (examples include but are not limited to CIH, CPE, ARM, QEP, CHMM ).

Tenure-Track Position – Required
  • Five years of applied experience and demonstrated expertise in industrial hygiene, occupational safety and health, risk assessment, safety management, and fire science.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of two or more of the following: industrial hygiene, system safety, safety management, environmental management, construction safety, loss control, risk management, or workers compensation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.

Tenure-Track Position – Preferred
  • Evidence of active involvement with professional SH&E organizations.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience with evidence of teaching excellence, scholarship, and service.
  • Multi-mode teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy: Internet and Microsoft Office. Proficiency in MS Excel.
Non-Tenure Track Position – Required
  • Five years of applied experience and demonstrated expertise in occupational safety and health, risk assessment/management, and safety management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of two or more of the following: environmental management, construction safety, loss prevention, risk management, and workers compensation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.

Non-Tenure Track Position – Preferred
  • Evidence of active involvement with professional SH&E organizations.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience with evidence of teaching excellence, scholarship and service.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy: Internet and Microsoft Office.
