Recruitment / Retention Specialist, Veterans Upward Bound

Job Description:

The Recruitment/Retention Specialist position is a full-time career service position. The Recruitment/Retention Specialist will perform duties in support of the Veterans Upward Bound Project (VUB) grant relating to the programs, services, and resources available to assist in the recruitment and retention of veteran students; establish a network of resources both within and outside the organization to assist in the recruitment and retention efforts; prepare timely written reports, graphs, and statistical data on recruitment and retention efforts; screen and disburse scholarship funds to eligible students. Additionally, the Recruitment/Retention Specialist will develop recruiting materials such as letters, flyers, and brochures to be used in support of the grant; plan and organize on-campus recruitment programs for prospective students; relieve the Director of administrative detail with considerable latitude for exercising judgment and discretion; and serve as liaison between various campus departments, community agencies, and the student. The position may require availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. This position reports to the Project Director, Veterans Upward Bound Project. This is a grant-funded position.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree and experience in administrative and microcomputer applications. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer experience working with active duty military and/or veterans; and experience and understanding of veteran educational benefits programs.

SALARY: $31,000.00 ($15.90/hour)
