FLSA Status: Non-exempt Terms of Employment: Continuous Position Summary: Designs, installs, and implements large, highly complex, and non-routine audio-visual (AV) hardware, software, and associated classroom technologies. Leads the preparation of classroom facilities with proper technology equipment to ensure proper functionality and security according to business needs.

AV Equipment Support - 50%
  • Sets up, installs, upgrades, configures, troubleshoots, adjusts, documents, and connects complex audio, visual, lighting, computer equipment, and peripherals in various environments for events, academic instruction, distance education, or meetings according to established requirements and requests.

  • Assists instructors and students in the use of classroom technology and software during classes.

  • Sets up rooms and coordinates coverage of distance education facilities.

  • Supervises on-campus student employees as needed to support these efforts.

  • Responsible for responding to assistance requests in the campus IT ticketing system.

  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for new installations of audio-visual equipment.

  • Tests, maintains, and provides recommendations for alternative hardware and software options to ensure proper functionality, security requirements, and business needs are met.

  • Provide consultation for audio visual equipment purchases.

Support for Faculty and Staff - 40%
  • Assists with the development and scheduling of operational work plans for classrooms technology

  • Coordinate with CETL (Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning) to offer and promote active professional development experiences / opportunities for instructors to learn technology and incorporate use in the classroom.

  • Work with CETL to develop and implement a strategy for assisting instructors to learn and exploit possible technological uses in the classroom.

  • Provides consultation and answers questions regarding Audio Visual and Classroom Technology equipment and functionality to individuals and groups based on set material and standards.

General Responsibilities - 10%
  • Provide backup and support for IT Account Manager on the Fond du Lac campus, and Classroom Technology on the Fox Cities campus.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:
  • Experience providing training on use of technology

  • Communication skills to create instructions for use of technology

  • Customer service skills

  • Knowledge in and experience with troubleshooting audio-visual equipment

  • Organizational and administrative skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred:
  • Associate’s degree or at least 2 years of comparable experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Education or related field.

  • Professional experience in higher education

  • At least 2 years experience supporting technology-enabled classrooms or distance education programs
