Program Director for the Community Arts Academy in the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts. CAA is the pre-college and continuing education division of the McGovern College. The Director is responsible for oversight of the program to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with its mission, objectives, and policy of the University of Houston. The Director is responsible for articulaing short- and long-term mission, goals, and objectives of the program, in partnership with the Dean and the program's stakeholder's throughout the College. Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Serve as primary administrator for the Community Arts Academy, serving all of the schools and arts disciplines in the McGovern College of the Arts.
  2. Plan, develop, and administer methods, strategies, and procedures for meeting CAA program objectives; direct and oversee daily activities of staff members in support of CAA activities; formulate, implement, and maintain appropriate policies and processes designed to achieve progam goals.
  3. Prepare and exxecute the annual CAA budget and ensure that expenditures are within budget.
  4. Serve as the primary administrator for community programs, including regular monthly lessons, classes, and summer camps. Includes coordinating marketing efforts and managing registration and tuition payments.
  5. Manage special CAA programs, including Mariachi Pumas, the Advanced Keyboard Maintenance and Piano Technology internship program, and others as assigned and developed.
  6. Identify Faculty Affiliates in the College's units and collaborate with those Affiliates to plan course offerings, plan an annual calendar of events, coordinate quality control and customer satisfaction surveys, and ensure staff accountability.
  7. Undertake a marketing campaign to ensure visibility, awareness, and audience for the expanded Community Arts Academy.
  8. Lead preparation and review of annual reports and records of activities, to analyze trends and to measure and document progress toward program objectives; modify or change methodology as required to redirect activities and attain objectives.
  9. Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Bachelors degree and a minimum of 3 years of directly job-related experience.

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical, or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
