(Media Production Specialist I - 10/12 pay plan)

Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $22.00 per hour

Full Classification Salary Range: $2,436 - $4,650 per month

  • This is a part-time (equivalent to 19 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt, non-benefited position.
  • This position is on a 10/12 Pay Plan which is equivalent to ten months of salary distributed over a 12-month period. The scheduled months off will be June and July.


Job Summary

The MCJ Equipment Technician reports to the Media, Communications and Journalism department chair and is under the supervision of the faculty director of the MCJ Multimedia Production Services. This individual will oversee the operation of the MCJ Equipment Room; manage the equipment reservation, checkout and inventory system; coordinate the maintenance of field production equipment; facilitate the purchase and repair of production equipment; and coordinate the maintenance and upgrade of the computer editing systems within the production/studio facility.

Key Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of:

    • techniques, materials and equipment used in multimedia field and TV studio production;
    • the full range of multimedia production techniques used in audio recording, video recording, photography, lighting and multi-camera production;
    • multimedia production equipment suppliers, equipment specifications, and procedures for researching and ordering production equipment;
    • processes for facilitating the repair of malfunctioning or broken multimedia production equipment;
  • Demonstrated skill or ability to:

    • design, implement and maintain an equipment inventory, reservation, and checkout system;
    • train faculty, staff, and students on basic production techniques and the operation of multimedia production equipment and Adobe software;

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in film production, multimedia production, television production or related media production field.
  • Minimum six months experience in multimedia production, television production or related media production field.
