Job Summary
RISD has an immediate need for a full-time Catering Lead to support the Catering Manager and Assistant Catering Manager by completing a variety of administrative duties to meet the needs and interests of a creative and diverse community. Responsibilities include regularly following up with clients via phone and email, checking catering voicemail, and following through with all necessary replies and/or actions. The ideal candidate maintains composure, has a positive mindset and demonstrates consistent ability and passion for excellent hospitality and customer service.
This is both a team-oriented and independent opportunity working with people, providing a wide variety of administrative duties requiring excellent interpersonal skills and keen attention to detail and visual presentation.

- Perform a wide variety of administrative duties in a timely
manner, including, but not limited to: answering phones, taking
notes, maintaining client/vendor forms & files, and serving as
a point-of-contact for questions relating to catering, while
maintaining constant, cordial & open communication with clients
and other staff/faculty.
- Process basic catering orders through a variety of mediums,
including phone, e-mail and walk-in. Proactively retrieve orders
from the Catering Online Ordering System. Print, organize,
distribute and post orders on Catering production board as they
occur.
- Maintain par levels and complete inventorying of various
catering food items and supplies, including paper/plastic wares,
beverages, and dry goods; place orders as approved by Catering
Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Update, maintain and ensure the accuracy of a variety of
website content, such as catering menus, pricing and online orders.
Print menus for buffets and served events; create signage for
events as applicable.
- Draft caterers schedule and truck schedule, as needed. Be first
point of contact for caterers' questions, including mentoring,
guidance and training.
- With an understanding of catering events and schedules,
anticipate the need to and actively perform caterer duties and
drive RISD catering vehicle, as needed.
- As assigned, serve as a primary contact for faculty and staff
on- and off-site while at events; communicating in a professional
manner during setup, service, presentation, and break-down, to
ensure consistent high standards are met.
- A high school diploma and 3-5 years experience in fast-paced
food service, event service, or catering environment.
- Prior experience in administrative office support, knowledge of
word processing and spreadsheet software required.
- A valid driver’s license required.
- Must be able to maintain composure, display a positive
demeanor, and demonstrate strong hospitality and customer service
skills. Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff,
students and discerning external clientele.
- Ability to work in a diverse community and to communicate
effectively across differences and with members of a diverse
team.
- Knowledge of the food industry and products and retail sales
experience is preferred.

Work Schedule:
40 hours per week/12-months per year. Standard hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Evenings and weekends hours are required as needed.
All dining and catering staff is considered essential personnel to the school and are therefore required to attend work even when the school is closed.
