The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs is responsible for articulating and implementing a strategy that differentiates the Krannert Undergraduate Programs in Management in a global environment for such programs that is experiencing rapid change in curriculum, technology, students and partnerships.  The successful candidate will champion academic programs built on management core excellence, reflect interdisciplinary relevance, and leverage the evolving Krannert learning ecosystem built on engaging course delivery and innovative real world application. The Associate Dean will work directly with the Dean to develop and execute plans with academic department heads, faculty and staff to achieve constant improvement in the academic experience of undergraduate students pursuing majors, minors and concentrations offered by the Krannert School. The Associate Dean will work cooperatively with members of the Dean’s Leadership team on initiatives associated with excellence in diversity, program branding and accreditation, marketing/communications, and faculty and alumni relations. 

 

The Associate Dean provides leadership for activities related to academic advising, registration, progress toward degree, the Larsen Leaders Academy, and the Undergraduate Student Services Council.  The Associate Dean must be an advocate for the school and work with the Provost Office and other colleges to seek support and cooperation for curriculum changes, and programs that strengthen the learning ecosystem of the undergraduate program.  The Associate Dean will serve as a senior member of the Dean’s leadership team and will report directly to the Dean of the school.  The Associate Dean with represent the school and be a national voice for undergraduate management education and learning innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide guidance to and insure integration of the various co-curricular elements supporting Krannert’s undergraduate programs.  These include both direct reports (undergraduate advising, the Larsen Leaders Academy, the Business Opportunity Program, Brock Wilson Center for Women in Management) and other opportunities supported by other units (Career Bound, the Management Communications Studio, center and course based experiential learning).

Provide oversight and guidance to the Krannert integrated learning ecosystem, an initiative to enhance learning outcomes and deploy leading edge tools and techniques in the delivery of the Krannert curriculum.

Convene the Undergraduate Curriculum committee and work with all functional areas to insure the content of their majors are contemporary and prepare students to immediately be valuable and productive in the professional environment. Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to ensure the programs are well promoted and recruit excellent matriculates for our management degrees.

Oversee the undergraduate program’s assurance of learning initiatives to maintain quality and document adherence for AACSB accreditation purposes.

Qualifications  and Skills

PhD in Management/Economics or a related discipline. A minimum of six years of relevant leadership experience in an academic setting.

Strong candidates will have a record of published scholarship, stakeholder engagement, evidence of a passion for undergraduate teaching, learning and mentorship, or evidence of involvement in successful transformation of undergraduate programs with interdisciplinary and experiential learning content. Demonstrated leadership to effect change in a fast paced environment with vision, creativity, and innovation.  Strong analytical and decision making skills.  Superior communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively interact with a wide range of people, including executives, faculty, staff, alumni, etc.
