The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a premier international affairs think tank with headquarters in Washington and offices in Beirut, Beijing, Brussels, Moscow, and New Delhi, seeks a new director and senior fellow for its Middle East Program, based in Washington DC.

This position entails managerial and scholarly managerial responsibilities.  The director is responsible for strategic oversight of the program as well as day to day management, including budgets, fundraising, and personnel supervision.  The director will also carry our research and writing and significant outreach to diverse policy communities in the United States, Europe and the Middle East.

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent, have extensive experience working on Middle East policy issues, and be fluent in reading and speaking Arabic.  Substantial managerial experience and either a record of notable publications or significant policy experience are a must. The candidate will report to the Vice President for Studies for the Middle East and work closely with the Malcolm Kerr Carnegie Center director in Beirut. This is a major opportunity to help set the direction and run a leading program on Middle East policy at a premier international affairs think tank.
