Job Summary

The Junior Copywriter is an entry-level role within the Communications & Marketing team of Enrollment Management & Student Success at Drexel University. The Junior Copywriter will be responsible for writing and editing a wide range of materials for all divisions in Enrollment Management & Student Success (which includes Admissions, Drexel Central, University Registrar, University Bursar, Financial Aid, Steinbright Career Development Center, Student Life, and Enrollment Analytics, among others). This role will develop and adapt existing editorial content in accordance with identified marketing and creative strategies for a wide variety of internal and external outputs, including (but not limited to): short- and long-form print, email, brochures, video scripts, in-home mailing materials, outdoor marketing, and social media.

The Junior Copywriter will be a member of high-energy creative team and will interact with students, faculty, and administrators, as well as other EMSS Communications & Marketing team members and external vendors. This role will support the Associate Director, Senior Copywriter, while reporting directly to the Editorial Creative Director.


Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain a significant volume of complex, multi-channel recruitment-related marketing materials including print, mail, digital, outdoor, video and social for Enrollment Management & Student Success, along with other General University material as needed.
  • Support the development of marketing and creative strategies, while maintaining consistent brand messaging and voice/tone of the Drexel University Brand.
  • Collaborate with team members and external partners to compose/edit/review online/digital marketing efforts utilizing content management systems and other online editing programs, such as Dreamweaver.
  • Demonstrate conceptual writing skills and ability to adhere to Enrollment Management & Student Success and University style guides.
  • Create and maintain relationships with internal and external clients and vendors.
  • Be accountable for meeting deadlines of assignments/tasks.
  • Research the latest trends in marketing, campaign testing techniques, developments in the Higher Education field.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Relative experience
  • Some published or produced work required
  • Full understanding of editorial style guides, specifically Chicago and AP Style
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Experience with InDesign, Dreamweaver, and HTML preferred
  • Higher Education experience preferred
  • Experience with SiteCore or Content Management Systems preferred
  • Some weekend work
