Job Summary

The Assistant Coach will be responsible for assisting the head coach in directing the softball program in all aspects. This individual will provide on-field coaching of the softball program, recruiting of potential student-athletes, alumni and community outreach, and monitor the academic and student-welfare for the program. Specific responsibilities to be assigned under the direction of the Head Softball Coach.


Essential Functions
  • Assist the Head Coach in directing an effective varsity athletic program in all aspects.
  • Assist in the teaching, coaching, training, and motivating program's student-athlete to perform at the highest level through organized and individual team sessions.
  • Help foster an environment within the program that supports the department's mission of personal growth and integrity, diversity, leadership, sportsmanship, respect, and a commitment to academic and athletic excellence.
  • Responsible for knowing and abiding by NCAA, CAA and University rules and regulations.
  • Coach specific positions as directed by Head Coach
  • Assist with breaking down game film and scouting opponents
  • Assist with Compliance Rules - complete weekly participation and practice reports
  • Continue established efforts and create new initiatives as dictated by program in regard to outreach and fundraising events.
    • a. Assist with Fundraising and Development; assist with phone-a-thon, distributing related correspondence
    • b. Coordinate alumni events
    • c. Assist with Social media for program
  • Assist with Recruiting of potential student-athletes - organize official visits, participate in unofficial visits.
  • Responsible for Team Travel- responsible for itineraries, organizing meals, travel practices, buses
  • Assist with Camps and Clinics - assist in organization and publicizing
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 2 years of Relative experience
  • Collegiate playing experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills required.
  • Valid driver's license required. Must comply with HR MVR policy.
