Job Summary

Drexel’s College of Nursing and Health Professions has an opening for an exciting new faculty position. This faculty role engages in academic practice including teaching and scholarship as well as administrative responsibilities as the Executive Director at the Community Wellness HUB located in the Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships at 3509 Spring Garden Street. The Community Wellness HUB is a community-driven, health promotion partnership between Drexel University and the residents of Mantua and Powelton Village and the other 8 Promise Zone neighborhoods. The HUB seeks to HEAL the community residents through preventative care, UNITE the community around better health, and BRIDGE the community to health services and health education programs, while tackling the social determinants that underlie health disparities. The HUB addresses the top health needs identified by the Mantua and Powelton Village residents during the “We’re Here Because We Care Building Healthy Communities Together" initiative. These health issues are chronic diseases, behavioral/mental health, sexual health, access to health foods, environmental health, access to care, and access to safe physical fitness. The HUB brings Drexel's academic expertise into the neighborhood, engaging faculty, professional staff and students with community residents in creative collaboration and shared problem solving, focused on health and wellness. The HUB offers free health education workshops, health screening, counseling, and referrals. The Executive Director will be an integral member of the Dornsife Center Team and help coordinate the Wellness HUB activities with the other programming at the Dornsife Center.

Reports to the Associate Dean for Community-Centered Health & Wellness and Academic Integration and will reside in a relevant nursing department.

Essential Functions

At the Community Wellness HUB this faculty will serve as Executive Director to:
  • Work closely with Associate Dean for Community-Centered Health & Wellness and Academic Integration to learn about the Community Wellness HUB’s, personnel, partnerships, community efforts, and programs.
  • Collaborate with Associate Dean and the Executive Advisory Board on establishing and executing the Community Wellness HUB’s goals.
  • Oversee designated interprofessional programming initiatives, their assessment, and evaluation.
  • Attend and participate in management/leadership meetings at partner organizations.
  • Collaborate with Associate Dean regarding interprofessional initiatives that support community-defined needs.
  • Engage in identified trauma-informed and antiracist initiative(s).
  • Manage the Wellness HUB’s faculty, staff, and students, as they integrate new services and programs into the Hub.
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the HUB, including the compliance, regulatory, and budget, while maintaining the inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Identify, develop, and schedule cutting-edge programming that addresses community stakeholders' voices, priorities, needs, and aspirations.
  • Collaborate with top management interdisciplinary teams, and other stakeholders to develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services.
  • Ensure that the Wellness HUB’s programming is coordinated with other activities at the Dornsife Center, so there is a seamless schedule for residents and Drexel stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the College of Nursing and Health Professions, 11th Street Clinic, Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnership staff, Dornsife School of Public Health, College of Medicine, and community partners to establish a full schedule of innovative programming.
  • Supervise community outreach and engagement of all stakeholders and the recruitment of community residents to various programs and initiatives at the HUB.
  • Lead and nurtures collaborative relationships with stakeholders including civic groups, faith-based organizations, clinical partners, and university partners.
Within the Academic Practice, the faculty member will:
  • Teach courses within nursing and health professions (12 credit load maximum) within CNHP as applicable.
  • Participate in student mentorship and development (e.g., dissertation, capstone projects).
  • Develop and disseminate scholarly work through professional organizations, community meetings and other outlets including helping to develop manuscripts for publication; and
  • Develop grant applications to support the efforts at 11th Street.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree, Nursing, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of Community and/or public health experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of Executive/leadership experience required
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD or Doctorate
  • Hold an active RN with licensure in the state of Pennsylvania
  • Knowledge of trauma- informed care preferred
  • Prior experience in primary care and/or behavioral health preferred
