Job Description
The Digital Communications Coordinator for the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics creates content for and maintains all external facing web pages, and secondarily, oversees social media content for all departments in the School.
The current primary objective is to conduct a complete overhaul of the School and departmental web pages in consultation with the dean, department heads, and program coordinators. This will involve soliciting written and visual content for the pages and working with The Citadel’s Office of Communications and Marketing to ensure content follows specific branding requirements.
Job duties
Website management: Oversees and creates content for the SFSSM website. Routinely monitors the website and social media sites to insure all content is current, effective and aligned with the rest of the College’s media. Updates departmental website on a continuous bases; may assist departments in design of marketing materials, including posters and handouts. This position reports the dean of the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, web design/graphic design, writing or related fields
- Knowledge of responsive web design and open-source content management systems
- Familiarity with Joomla, WordPress
- Familiarity HTML
- Possess excellent writing and communication skills
- Be a self-starter with outstanding attention to detail
- Be able to lead projects or work closely with a variety of persons and teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Graphic design and copywriting experience
- Understanding of marketing and communications strategies, and tactics
- Experience in an institution of higher education
