Position Summary:

This position provides direct, high-level administrative support to senior leadership in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), and provides program-level and office support for the CALS Office of the Dean and Director. Candidates must have the ability to work in and contribute to an environment that is welcoming and inclusive of a diversity of people, perspectives, and lived experiences.

This position requires a strong communicator with proven interpersonal skills, who can establish and maintain effective working relationships and exhibit a customer service-oriented attitude in interactions with visitors, faculty, and staff. This individual in this position will be privy to sensitive discussions at the senior leadership level, and as such, must appropriately ensure confidentiality in all interactions.

A successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced office environment, have the ability to manage multiple tasks, and have the ability to adapt to changing priorities. An ideal candidate should be able to take initiative while exercising good judgment and discretion, and have a track record of being able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Ideally, this individual will be able to use their strong attention to detail, and familiarity with a wide array of office tools, to approach administrative tasks with a solutions-oriented mindset.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

1. Strong interpersonal skills, including superior verbal and written communication skills.
2. Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
3. Ability to be meticulous and pay attention to details
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
5. Ability to work independently, as well as function effectively in a team and with a diverse group of people.
6. Ability to exercise independent judgment in complex situations.
7. Ability to adapt to new and challenging situations.
8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with office colleagues, faculty, staff, university officials, and the public.
9. Proficient software knowledge and expertise: Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, electronic forms, web/internet, etc.
10. Preference will be given to candidates experienced in supporting senior-level executives. Administrative experience in a higher education or senior executive setting preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

-Work schedule: Monday-Friday, between core business hours of 7:45am-4:30pm
