Job Summary

In conjunction with members of Executive Education and others in Nondegree Programs, act as a key team member in the successful development and delivery of high-quality online, blended, in-person, and flipped learning experiences for professional women through the creation of video content with supporting animation and graphics. As part of the online team, this position will develop instructional, engaging, and high-quality media to support the development and marketing of new online programs in addition to updating existing programs.

For this position, Smith College will consider hybrid and 100% remote candidates; not all states are approved for remote work. The Executive Education team holds in-person meetings and would prefer a candidate who could attend a few on-campus meetings per month starting in Spring and Summer 2022.

Essential Functions
  • Edit audio and video to create a professional product.

  • Create animated text, images, and graphics to accompany faculty videos.

  • Maintain and update online program templates; create versions for all nondegree program needs.

  • Write effective copy, instructional text, visual aids, guides, and audio and video scripts.

  • Develop knowledge and expertise on the Exec Ed mission, values, plans for growth, and current programs.

  • Define and articulate project goals and scope to stakeholders, track course development, coordinate review and feedback, and report on overall project health.

  • Actively participate in process improvements.

  • Research and disseminate resources and best practices in technology enhanced teaching and learning.

  • Incorporate accessibility standards and assets into all interactive design.

  • Apply learning theory, design models, and best practices to develop high-end interactive learning experiences.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a business or higher education context or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Experience in and knowledge of instructional design and/or e-learning.

  • Strong knowledge of educational technologies.

  • Expertise with Camtasia and Adobe Creative Cloud or comparable products.

  • Skilled knowledge of camera, lighting, sound and animation.

  • Demonstrated initiative and creativity.

  • Knowledge of and experience with the various video and audio formats, technologies, and delivery requirements; video capture and encoding; graphic design and motion graphic skills; knowledge of hardware and software required for video and audio conversion and compression.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Zoom, HTML, Microsoft Office and a standard LMS platform.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in an environment with constantly changing client needs.

  • A background in accessibility, usability, and experience design, information design and communications, as well as knowledge of instructional design models, strategies, and best practices.

Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Moodle and/or Moodle Workplace.

  • Experience working with faculty or subject matter experts to develop courses or programs.

  • Progressively responsible experience in course design and development, faculty training, or program/course assessment/evaluation, or other related experience.

Additional Information
