As a member of the iSchool’s Technology services group the Academic Technology Specialist is a part of a team responsible for providing solutions to end user technology requirements, problem resolution, training, and support for our academic, administrative and research areas. The person in this position will have a focused responsibility supporting the academic needs of the school to include classroom and conference room technology, computer labs and computer-based laboratory exercises for various courses. This position requires close association with faculty, staff, and students to be performed in a professional and courteous manner. Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A minimum of two years direct hands-on experience with relevant technologies is also required.
Knowledge and Experience should include the majority of and is not limited to the following:
Advanced technical experience with desktop/laptop hardware, associated operating systems (Windows/Mac/Linux) and major application suites.
Advanced technical experience with server and networking equipment and their associated operating systems (Windows/Mac/Linux), services ( DNS, DFS, Microsoft SQL server, LDAP, and Web 2.0 applications) and interfaces.
Demonstrable understanding (installation/configuration/troubleshooting) of various server and network-oriented technologies such as SAN, NAS, RAID, Clustering, Load-balancing, Virtualization, Firewalls, and Wireless LANs.
Thorough knowledge of virtualization concepts and best practices.
Advanced technical experience and understanding of Directory administration, including but not limited to Account Management, NFS, Group Policy, User Profile management, Printing, mobile device management, and Application Deployment.
Demonstrable knowledge of at least one major programming and scripting language or at basic server-side scripting and task automation, PowerShell preferred. Job Specific Qualifications
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, evaluate and delegate tasks in a busy service environment is essential.
This person must take ownership of delivering reliable technology solutions including their supporting systems for the academic needs of the school while maintaining and seeking ways to improve the service for the future. The person in this position must keep documentation current and accurate for the various solutions, inventories, training documents and intranet content.
Effective communication skills are essential to converse with both technical and non-technical users. Responsibilities
Administration of virtualized environments to support the many hosted computer-based laboratory exercises.

Planning, configuration, and maintenance of new and used desktop, laptop workstations, A/V and
other technology related equipment in classrooms, labs, and conference spaces as well as ancillary spaces.

Consulting with faculty and professors of record to develop and maintain/keep current computer-based laboratory exercises for various courses.
