Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder and Leeds School of Business encourages applications for an HR Manager ! Reporting to the Director of Human Resources (HR) and Faculty Support Services (FSS), this role functions as the Manager of Human Resources for Leeds. This position leads HR Operations, which provides quality services to attract, develop, empower and retain a diverse and highly effective workforce capable of advancing the academic mission. The HR Manager supervises the HR Generalist, HR Senior Coordinator and HR/FSS administrator. Through our business partner approach, the HR team collaborates closely with staff and faculty to provide proactive people support. This role is responsible for faculty career landmarks including hiring, reappointment, promotion and tenure, evaluation, leaves and sabbaticals and post-tenure review. The HR Manager is confident with the policies, bylaws and procedures connected to both staff and faculty, and is passionate about providing superb HR support to all employees, resulting in a positive employee experience.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Faculty Personnel
  • Liaison for Leeds faculty Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure/Post Tenure Review, Sabbaticals.
  • Identify faculty candidates for promotion, reappointment or post-tenure review and make appropriate notification. Prepare Annual Personnel Actions and PUEC Members documents.
  • Supervise the reappointment process for Leeds instructors in coordination with division chairs regarding instructor reappointments.
  • Interpret and communicate policies, regulations, and procedures associated with promotion and post-tenure review to faculty, staff, and other program participants. Supervise the preparation of faculty e-dossiers for college review and submission to the Office of Faculty Affairs.
  • Coordinate faculty sabbatical process.
  • Oversee voting process for all Leeds faculty personnel actions.
  • In coordination with Faculty Affairs prepare, maintain and publish the Leeds School deadlines calendar including comprehensive review, reappointment, promotion and tenure and other college deadlines affecting Leeds faculty.

Annual Faculty Merit Evaluations
  • Manage the annual merit process for Leeds annual faculty merit evaluations.
  • Prepare documentation for the division and Dean reviews including FCQ and publication data.
  • Assist the Senior Associate Dean with post-evaluation faculty score analysis.

Supervision
  • Provides leadership through regular communications, active goal setting, and routine coaching to model and promote behavior that aligns with the school's core values.
  • Organizes and plans work to ensure appropriate prioritization and timely results.
  • Evaluates the HR team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group, and provides team members with professional and personal growth and development.

Recruitment
  • Support with the faculty recruitment process, including job posting, advertising, arranging campus interviews, and hiring.
  • Work with campus HR, the Affirmative Action Officer and the division chairs to disposition all applicants for each faculty search (i.e., provide explanations for not- selected applicants).
  • Responsible for the staff recruitment process, liaising with the HR Generalist, HR Senior Coordinator and Campus HR recruiter.

College and AACSB Faculty Reports
  • Manage generation of reports primarily in Salesforce for faculty activities and faculty personnel actions. Reports include, but are not limited to, publications, research, promotion and tenure decisions, sabbaticals and post tenure review as well as required AACSB AQ/PQ (Academically Qualified/Professionally Qualified) faculty status reports.
  • Support with AACSB annual reporting and reaccreditation efforts.

Employee Relations
  • Works with University Human Resources and Legal to protect the school when taking binding action affecting staff member pay and other personnel actions up to termination. Maintains compliance with staff corrective and disciplinary actions, up to and including termination; manages the staff progressive-discipline process. Confers with Human Resources and Legal regarding staff actions taken and compiles records/evidence if called to defend action taken.
  • Liaises with Human Resources, OFA, Office of Discrimination and Harassment, Student Employment, Risk Management, Provost's Office and Employee Services to confers with, address and resolve personnel issues that arise.
  • Supervise the employee years of service program.

HR Operations
  • Maintains personnel files and records in alignment with retention policies.
  • Oversees audits of leave, appointments, payroll, personnel files, FMLA, and other HR programs.
  • Verifies data accuracy and completeness of the staff and faculty roster for the college's annual budget process, the staff and faculty census, and the campus performance review processes.
  • Ensures the successful day-to-day operations of the HR unit including, but not limited to, employee support, leadership coaching, employment practices, appointment administration changes and payroll.

What We Can Offer

  • The salary range is $75,000- $85,000 annually.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Worked within an HR capacity with demonstrated progression for a minimum of five years.
  • Two years of experience leading and managing a team.

  • Motivated, pro-active and willing to take initiative.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite software, primarily Word and Excel.
  • Solid attention to detail.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Five years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, specifically in the field of Human Resources, from an accredited institution.
  • Sophisticated skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working with or in faculty affairs.
