The Department of Mineral Engineering is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time tenure-track position in the area of Mining Engineering with a strong focus on Rock Mechanics and Geomechanics.

 

The position is available at the Assistant level, however consideration for Associate Professor level is possible, depending on qualifications and experience.  Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include exceptional classroom teaching, advising undergraduate and graduate students, development of a vigorous externally funded research program, and active participation in campus-related and professional service.  The main teaching responsibilities will be in the area of Rock Mechanics and Geomechanics.  However, ability to teach other courses such as surface and underground methods, equipment selection, geostatistics, and general engineering is desired. An Engineering doctoral degree in Mining Engineering, or a closely related field is required.

 

Mineral Engineering degree at New Mexico Tech is an ABET accredited program.  The department offers BS, MS and PhD degrees in Mineral Engineering.  Focused areas of research at the graduate level are: Geotechnical and Geomechanical Engineering, Mineral Exploration and Mineral Economics, Explosive Engineering, and Health and Safety. The department has state-of the-art laboratories.
