The salary ranges for this position are $70,600 – $80,000 at Assistant Professor level or $80,000 – 98,000 at Associate Professor level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.

The above salary ranges represent the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the ranges of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is responsible for cultivating a learning environment for industry-bound students, as well as those students that wish to pursue graduate studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for ongoing excellence in teaching, advising, scholarly activities, and professional development. Additionally, interaction with the staff of the Springhill Suites by Marriott is critical in keeping with the vision and goals of the department. Position opportunity for Assistant, Associate or Full professor. Duties/Responsibilities
Candidate will be expected to work with and interact with colleagues and specifically in the development and teaching of hotel management and operations to include property management, hospitality strategic management, revenue and yield management, managerial accounting for hospitality, budgeting and forecasting, and casino gaming. Candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester (fall and spring) and pursue scholarly activities and applied research with students in and throughout MSU Denver’s Hospitality Learning Center. Summer classes are optional with additional compensation. Candidate will combine classroom learning with experiential learning. Candidate will effectively integrate technology (internet, social media, and teaching online) into course work, applied research, and advising. Candidate will advise at the undergraduate level, actively serve as faculty advisor to a student organization, provide service to the university and community, and fulfill other assigned duties as requested by the department Chair.

Candidate will be responsible for developing and fostering relationships with hospitality, hotel and resort sectors of the economy. It is expected that these relationships will lead to research and professional opportunities for students as well as research outlets for faculty. Candidate must be student-oriented and possess strong leadership skills conducive to building premier undergraduate and graduate programs within the department.

Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree or ABD at the time of appointment (Degrees must be in Hospitality Management, Hospitality Administration or related field).
  • Previous industry related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years relevant industry experience (preferably working in a hotel or resort).
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level, and/or teaching experience within industry or industry associations.
  • Appropriate certifications like CHIA, CHE, CHA, etc.
  • Active membership in local, regional, and national professional hotel and lodging organizations.
