The Center for Women's and Gender Studies at West Virginia University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor whose research and teaching engages critically with race, gender and sexuality. The ideal candidate’s area of specialization will allow them to significantly contribute to the LGBTQ+ minor (housed within WGST) and teach at least some of the following courses: Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies, Feminist Theory, Queer Theory, WGST Capstone, Feminist Research Methods.

The Center for Women’s and Gender Studies, the academic home of women’s and gender studies at WVU, offers a Graduate Certificate, a BA in Women’s and Gender Studies, as well as undergraduate minors in Women’s and Gender Studies and in LGBTQ+ Studies. The Center is a multidisciplinary unit focused on intersectional and cross-disciplinary connections across the WVU campus. WVU is a comprehensive land-grant university that enrolls 29,000 students. It is classified as “highest research activity” by the Carnegie Foundation. The Morgantown campus is situated along the Monongahela River and Rail Trail and within 10 miles of Cooper’s Rock State Forest, and is within easy traveling distance of Washington, D.C. to the east, Pittsburgh, PA, to the north, and Cleveland and Columbus, OH, to the west. Qualifications :

The area of concentration is open, but WGST encourages scholars with expertise in race and ethnicity studies and at least one of the following areas: transnational, Indigenous, and diasporic feminisms; feminist law and policy; gender, health and wellbeing; mobility and migration; or science and technology studies. Candidates will hold a PhD in Women's and Gender Studies, a cognate field, or have a certificate in Women’s Gender and/or Sexuality Studies at the time of appointment. Candidates with experience in collaborative or community-engaged research are encouraged to apply.
