Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Traditional Transfer Population Recruitment will have an intensive focus on the recruitment of traditional transfer students from the community college student population. This will include building and maintaining relationships with community colleges for the purposes of recruiting transfer students through a seamless transition process. Seeks opportunities for expanded recruitment contacts, participate in various recruiting events, and positively contributes to the attainment of new student enrollment goals. In addition, this individual will participate in a greater leadership/supervisory role within the Office of Admission by contributing mentoring, training and the overall success of the admission team members. The Assistant Director will serve as a liaison between the Senior Director of Transfer Admission and Articulation and the Admission Counselors.

Essential Functions
  • Build relationships with prospective students/families and preset to various groups for the purpose of informing them about University programs, admission and financial aid procedures.
  • Plan and execute a schedule of visits and communication with contacts in an assigned community college territory. Travel to assigned territory while maintaining stewardship of resources.
  • Recommend admission and scholarship decisions in an assigned territory.
  • Create and maintain effective, positive relationships with community college contacts through general application of customer service and sales techniques to enhance partnership opportunities.
  • Respond to inquiries and handle correspondence with prospective students in a timely and effective manner.
  • Assume responsibility for further development and maintenance of partnership agreements with community colleges.
  • Be knowledgeable about and demonstrate general admission practices and industry trends.
  • Utilize CRM to run queries, track prospects’ progress through the enrollment process, and make data driven decisions within territory.
  • Follow and enhance strategies outlined within yearly recruitment plan to aid in meeting territory goals for community college student recruitment.
  • Assist in the development of training programs to assist the admission counseling staff in professional development including new hire training schedules.
  • Provide mentorship, motivation and supervision of junior staff within the office while also working with director staff to identify training needs.
  • Define and execute admission counselor communication flow timeline within the recruitment territories of community colleges. Expand communication with community college partners as needed to meet enrollment goals.
  • Assist in the direction of recruitment and enrollment planning for transfer students from community colleges, including input to publications, social media, website, direct mail and email campaigns and on-campus programs.
  • Responsible for reporting needs, meeting attendance and general supervision of admission counselors in the absence of the Senior Director of Transfer Admission and Articulation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Well-developed skills in verbal/written communication.
  • Understanding of higher education in particular of private liberal arts colleges and their mission.
  • The ability to project a positive image of the institution in an organized, accurate manner.
  • Grasp of admission, financial aid procedures and academic opportunities available is necessary.
  • Must be responsive and adaptable to a fast-paced environment and fluctuating responsibilities.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • High School and Community College visits are performed in personal automobile, costs reimbursed.
  • Ability to carry and lift display and promotion material, approximately 50 pounds.
  • Evening and weekend hours as assigned.
  • Ability to travel locally, and in designated out-of-area territories.
