Job Summary

The Assistant Vice President for Planning & Institutional Performance provides leadership, expertise, and administrative oversight for the University’s accreditation and compliance, data usage and analytics, institutional research operations, accountability planning, assessment, and program review processes. This position provides structure and support for all units to work together and collaborate for continuous improvement based on data and best practices. In addition, this leadership position communicates on internal and external reporting requirements and outcomes effectively to empower stakeholders with the best available data and understanding.

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

•Provides leadership and oversight for accountability, assessment, and accreditation functions that enables the University to meet its mission and maintain its accreditation by applying advanced knowledge of planning and project management principles and institutional research methodologies, including but not limited to complex statistical analyses, survey design and administration, and best practices of systematic outcome assessment to monitor institutional effectiveness.

•Leads, manages, and coordinates all aspects of institutional research, data administration, and data analytics.

•Expands the University’s institutional research and analytics offerings, especially with emerging analytical approaches, skills, and technologies. Fosters the creation of a data-driven culture and oversees the creation of University dashboards.

•Serves as the official accreditation liaison and has responsibility for leading all institutional accreditation compliance processes and establishing a culture of continuous improvement.

•Oversees the institution’s federal, state, and accrediting agency data reporting submissions. Develops and updates policies that effect institutional compliance with federal, state, and accrediting bodies and ensures timely preparation of data reports for department, program, governmental, or public consumption. •Manages related data systems and provides consultation, support, and facilitates training to data users and consumers.

•Prepares and presents the Accountability Plan for the Florida Board of Governors and monitors continuous improvement for performance funding metrics and enrollment indicators required within the State University System of Florida.

•Collaborates with key stakeholders on the use of data and assessment results to make informed decisions in the development of innovative ideas and initiatives that enhance student success.

•Provides input on program development, accreditation standards, and substantive change as well as in partnership with the Program Review Team of the Faculty Senate regarding program review processes and improvement according to strategic directives.

•In collaboration with the Office of Information Technology Services, creates policies and controls for the appropriate protection of information assets, including a defined information life cycle from acquisition or creation to end of life destruction and disposal procedures.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Terminal degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field or discipline.

Five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in institutional research, institutional accreditation, institutional effectiveness, or assessment at a higher education institution.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Demonstrated experience with data literacy and effectively describing cases, outcomes, data sources, management concepts, and analytical approaches.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five years of professional full-time experience at a Director’s level or above in a public higher education setting.

Experience with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation processes and standards.

Experience with institutional accreditation and reaffirmation reports as well as program-level review self-studies, reports, accreditation, and assessment.

Experience interpreting and communicating data to a variety of audiences and integrating complex, cross-corporate processes and information strategies, and designing strategic metrics and scorecards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of state statutes and Florida Board of Governors regulations, related to accreditation, accountability and assessment.

Demonstrated knowledge of higher education processes and resultant information needs, including risk and regulatory factors relating to information flows.

Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources in a complex organization.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work across functions at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to deliver presentations to individuals and groups.

Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.

Demonstrated ability to prepare high-level analysis of data and communicate complicated matters in a meaningful and structured way to a variety of audiences, including senior leadership, the community, and government leaders.

Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.

Ability to communicate and work collaboratively within diverse levels and perspectives including senior leadership, technology, and stakeholders.

Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment in the establishment, interpretation, application, and enforcement of all rules, regulations, and policies.

Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing guidance and motivation while establishing goals and expectations of accountability.

Salary Range: $120,000 - negotiable based on experience
