Summary of Job Duties:The He Group at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville invites applications for the position of postdoctoral fellow. We are seeking a highly motivated and hard-working material chemist to work on interdisciplinary projects. The postdoctoral position will be responsible for designing and modifying nanomaterials using their knowledge in organic and materials chemistry. These projects will involve organic synthesis, carbon nanotubes and graphene functionalization, and surface characterizations. This position also involves student mentoring, manuscript preparation and grant proposal preparation as needed. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

The is a one-year appointment, renewable based on the need for the position, availability of funding, and continued satisfactory level of performance in the role.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or in a related field from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of employment




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with chemical synthesis

  • Experience with carbon nanotubes and graphene functionalization

  • Graphene transfer experience

  • Experience with materials and surface characterizations (TEM, XPS, Raman, FTIR, UV-Vis, TGA and NMR)





Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to analyze and interpret experimental data

  • Ability to be personally motivated and work in a creative manner

  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment
