Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student Life, the Coordinator for Cultural Engagement and Inclusion will coordinate the campus wide cultural engagement planning and implementation of inclusion efforts. The position will assist the department in providing ongoing support programs and services for students. The Coordinator for Cultural Engagement and Inclusion contributes to the overall goals of The Office of Student Life and the University Mission.

Representative Duties:
  • Creates and guides efforts in educational, cultural, social, identity development and leadership development programs. E
  • Presents on or facilitates workshops on identity development, inclusion, equity and other diversity related topics. E
  • Plans and coordinates implementation of cultural events, educational displays, diversity programs, workshops and social programs. E
  • Oversees and gives guidance and support to the Culture and Justice clubs and other related student groups. E
  • Develops and implements innovative marketing and communication plans to promote The Center for Cultural Engagement and Inclusion, programs and initiatives, including the maintenance of website, campus wide communication efforts, and monthly informational newsletters. E
  • Develops programs for alumni in collaboration with Alumni Relations. E
    Provides leadership on special projects. E
  • Supervises student interns. E
  • Oversees the acquisition, organization and circulation of the cultural library. E
  • Creates and provides on-going training, supervision, and motivation to student staff. E
  • Creates innovative outreach strategies to student populations to increase engagement. E
  • Keeps accurate records regarding budget. E
  • Develops rubrics to assess and evaluate program learning outcomes. E
  • Organizes and creates programs that meet the strategic goals for The Center for
    Cultural Engagement and Inclusion and the University. E
  • Performs appropriate assessment of events and programs. E
  • Serves as department liaison with other areas of the University and external organizations and agencies. E
  • Collaborates with other Student Life areas and University departments. E
  • Supports campus wide events and programs, including but not limited to, New Student Orientation and Homecoming and Family Weekend. E
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Departmental operations, procedures, specific rules and precedents.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Student Affairs, Higher Education or related field and two year of experience in Cultural Engagement and Inclusion programming.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree is related field.

Demonstrated commitment to and successful experience working in diverse, multicultural and multi-racial communities

Licenses and Other Requirements:
California Driver’s License

Busy office environment with frequent interruptions; some evening and weekend hours required; some travel is required.
