The Psychological Counselor reports to the Director of Counseling.
The Psychological Counselor works as a member of a collaborative
team providing both group and time-limited individual counseling,
intake assessments, and mental health programming to undergraduate
and graduate students. The position also involves providing crisis
intervention services during regular business hours as well as
frequent consultation with administrators regarding the well-being
of students. The Psychological Counselor is a critical part of the
department's services delivery and participates in a comprehensive
program that is designed to enhance student development, foster
responsible decision-making, facilitate the sense of campus
community, and assure equitable, accessible and quality clinical
care to meet the psychological and developmental needs of students.
The position supports the department's and the University's
strategic initiative and commitment to providing an inclusive and
supportive environment for all community members. The role requires
possession of strong clinical skills, a demonstrated commitment to
working effectively from a multicultural framework, the ability to
manage a full client caseload, and the ability to work
collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
