Scope of Job:
To manage the day-to-day operations of campus shuttle services. Responsible to provide transportation services in a safe and timely manner.

Description of Duties:
• Drives shuttle bus on a timely basis on designated route.

• Supervises assigned staff, including delegation of work/route assignments.

• Works with assigned supervisor to plan, supervise and monitor the shuttle service operations.

• Ensures adequate campus coverage at scheduled hours of operation.

• Verifies and approves driver time cards.

• Monitors the shuttle vehicle maintenance program, including coordination with mechanics to ensure minimal service disruption.

• Enforces Federal, State and University policies on shuttles for the safe transport of riders.

• Performs daily vehicle inspections (i.e. fuel, update daily vehicle service log).

• Submits vehicle service log to Vehicle Fleet Supervisor for monthly reporting to State of Texas.

• Prepares and analyzes shuttle operation reports, including but not limited to, passenger counts, mileage, fuel consumption, route studies, and expenditures.

• Schedules drivers for non-routine work assignments (i.e. weekend/after hour transportation requests from departments).

• Conducts annual performance evaluations or SEPAPs for assigned staff.

• Identifies training opportunities for assigned staff.

• Interviews and hires part-time drivers.

• Recommends route changes as needed; obtains management approval when appropriate.

• Conducts presentations during new student orientations regarding shuttle services.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Specific supervision from assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of all assigned staff.

Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Licenses/Certifications:
Texas CDL Class B License. Texas CDL Class B License with Air Brake and Passenger endorsement.  As condition of employment this position requires the applicant to be authorized to operate a University-Owned Vehicle for Official University Business. Per University of Texas System Policy 157, applicants will be subject to a motor vehicle record check for their most recent thirty-six (36) month history. Out of State Drivers are required to submit a 36-month history MVR from their prior State of residence(s).

Required Experience:
• Four (4) years of driving shuttles, buses, trams or passenger vans and one (1) year of supervisory experience related to field. General office experience required, or

• Two (2) years of driving shuttles, buses, trams or passenger vans and one (1) year of supervisory experience related to field, with an Associate’s degree. General office experience required.

Equipment:
Personal computer, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Standard office machines.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Some travel and weekend work is required.
