University Faculty Respiratory Therapy

Job Description:
The Respiratory Therapy department seeks an innovative educator possessing the qualities to advance the profession as evolving clinical competence requires. The successful candidate will help implement curriculum documenting and emphasizing students attaining clinical competence in a lab setting prior to hospital practical rotations.

Job Duties:
This individual will predominantly teach courses to include REST 2140; Therapeutic Modalities, REST 2160; Equipment Management Lab with mechanical ventilation, REST 3260; Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care, and REST 3270; Adult Critical Care but may have split assignments for other courses as the department requires. The position is 10 months, tenure track appointment with 2 hrs. released time per semester to coordinate labs, manage space, order supplies, and maintain equipment. In addition, the individual will coordinate with the department chair to select and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Regularly meet and participate in committee assignments representing the department interests. All faculty are required to plan, implement, and design curriculum as developing professional and workforce requirements dictate. Other duties include assisting with awarding scholarships by reviewing and discussing candidates with department personnel.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required.
A minimum of three years clinical experience or equivalent clinical and teaching experience combined.
Currently licensed in the state of Utah, or the ability to acquire a Utah license.
A RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

Preferred Qualifications:
Basic knowledge and understanding of computer technology and skill to communicate and write effectively. Doctoral degree preferred from a regionally accredited institution. Teaching experience in higher education, clinical expertise in adult critical care, neonatal, asthma educator, sleep, and/or credentials in area of expertise, i.e., ACCS, NPS, R-CPFT, RpsgT, AE-C. Demonstrated scholarship activity, record of success in published research in professional journals, and the ability to integrate innovative technology in Respiratory Therapy education.
