Description: Charleston Southern University invites applications for a faculty position (Associate or Full Professor) in the College of Education beginning January or June 1st, 2022. Charleston Southern seeks candidates who are professing Christians, committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. They should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education and be willing to explore with students the integration of faith and learning.  Rank and pay is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:  The essential functions and responsibilities of the Director of Undergraduate Programs in Education include:   Accepting responsibility for the effective management of the undergraduate education programs such that all CAEP, SACSCOC and State Department of Education standards are met. Coordinating all assessment measures for each program, in cooperation with the College of Education coordinators (CAEP, Elementary/Early Childhood, & Secondary), presenting assessing results to the Dean, VPAA, and Director of Institutional Effectiveness, and acting on these assessment results to improve the Undergraduate Programs in Education. Coordinating the admission protocols for the College of Education teacher certification programs. Cooperating with the Dean of the College of Education and the VPAA in: Developing a plan to determine and meet future education program goals, including enrollment trends and projections; Submitting an annual budget request to the Dean; Requisitioning supplies for the undergraduate graduate program; Maintaining undergraduate program records in LiveTex; Reviewing and updating academic policies and procedures for the undergraduate major; Developing a strategic plan for course offerings and programs of studies; Submitting the course offerings for each term to the Dean; Collaborate with the Undergraduate Coordinators on scheduling and advising issues related to transfer students; Collaborating with Enrollment Services on the marketing and recruitment of students; Serving as primary liaison with department chairs, or designees, in those programs leading to certification; Recommending adjunct faculty to the Dean and VPAA, ensuring all applicant materials are submitted, including official transcripts; Collecting and reviewing all undergraduate syllabi for adherence to College of Education template; Making recommendations to the Curriculum Committee on academic policies; Serving on appropriate university and College of Education committees; Coordinating with the Dean on the establishment of a Teacher Education Advisory Council; Assist in the selection of new faculty and making recommendations to the Dean; Making recommendations as to the promotion and tenure, changes and dismissal, and salary adjustments or stipends for College of Education faculty; Encouraging the formation and development of clubs and honor societies for students within each major; Performing other duties as assigned by the Dean and VPAA.

Qualifications:  Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education in from a regionally accredited institution. Thorough knowledge of CAEP standards and accreditation processes. Experience in higher education and qualification for the faculty rank of associate professor or higher. Direct experience as an educator within PreK-12 educational settings. Entrepreneurial mindset with experience growing programs. Passion for promoting educators of excellence. Demonstrated use of data-based decision-making models and experience in assessment of student learning outcomes. Administrative experience in higher education preferred. Flexibility, ability to communicate with varied constituencies, and ability to work across disciplines.
