Centre College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Chinese beginning August 2022. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching in a student-centered environment. Special consideration will be given to candidates committed to using/developing inclusive pedagogies, mentoring student research, and supporting students beyond the classroom. Candidates must have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment and be qualified to teach all levels of Chinese language. Skills in developing programs preferred. Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin and English is required. Secondary expertise in Japanese language desired. The successful candidate will be encouraged to offer courses in other areas according to the candidate’s abilities and research interests. Examples include interdisciplinary first-year seminars, upper-level social issues courses, Asian studies, and gender studies.
