This position will aid the University in timely and accurate fiscal planning and management of its operating budget. These duties will allow Pepperdine administrators to make well informed decisions that facilitate its goal of each school being ranked in the top tier nationally. This position helps to steward the University's resources and ensures proper measures are followed related to the overall University budget. Excellence can more easily be achieved in academic areas when good financial data exists to more confidently and quickly inform decisions that affect the student. This position also plays a pivotal role in Pepperdine's reputation and presence in the capital markets during debt issues.

 

Duties

 

  • Assist with leading the University budget process in achieving annual milestones and deliverables.
  • Manage all aspects of the University's planning and budgeting system (Oracle PBCS) in order to ensure streamlined financial data input and reporting for University budget managers and leadership.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis, reports, and presentations either for presenting or for the Chief Financial Officer's presentations.
  • Lead and manage Office of Financial Planning.
  • Manage budget revision process to ensure budgetary integrity and compliance with University financial policies.
  • Review and approve various internal and external financial surveys.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

 

Required: Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in a business related field (accounting, finance, business or economics). Minimum three years in a related field. Excellent communication skills; strong work ethic; self-motivated; excellent critical thinking skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; strong organizational skills with an emphasis on managing multiple tasks and people; able to mentor analysts and focus on professional development and growth. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ability to quickly adapt to new financial systems.

 

Preferred: MBA and/or CPA. Proficient in Oracle PBCS, PeopleSoft.
