Job Summary
The Director of Human Resources Management, also referred to as the Chief Human Resources Officer, provides leadership for the University's human resources program. The Director is responsible for the development and integration of recruitment, wage and salary administration, position classification, interpreting and implementing personnel-related policies and procedures, employee benefits, employee records, and employee relations. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for ensuring that all human resources programs and initiatives align with the overall institutional goals and objectives.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for regulatory compliance with the University, state and federal government, Board of Regents
- Key contact/liaison to Board of Regents, Legal Affairs personnel, and other agencies to
- ensure that ASU employment policies and
- practices are in compliance with BOR, federal and state rules and regulations.
- Responsible for oversight of recruitment and retention, HRIS, training and professional development, performance management, employee safety, and represents the University in all aspects of personnel or general
- liability related matters involving employees.
- Provides leadership and direction for the Office of Human Resources and ensures all
- services are consistent and meet the needs and objectives of the institution.
- Provides oversight of employee relations, employee grievances, compensation, recruitment, EEO, benefits, and policy administration.
- Develops and coordinates training programs and performance management.
- Serves as liaison for the in hearings with employment matters with the DOL, worker's compensation, employee disciplinary appeals, etc.
- Reviews recommendations for employment and disciplinary actions, promotions, and transfers.
- Responsible for wage and salary administration.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in business administration, public
administration, or personnel administration is required;
Other Required Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to supervise staff, interact with executive
administrators, faculty, staff, and the public.
Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to
complex human resource issues.
Ability to interpret and advise on the application of EEO/AA laws
and regulations
Required Experience
Five (5) years of responsible professional experience as a manager
or above in the areas of human resources management,
employee-management relations, wage administration, or related
experience, preferably in a collegiate setting.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree preferred;
SPHR certification preferred.
Preferred Experience
Thorough knowledge of employment laws, including Equal Employment
Opportunity, Fair Labor Standards Act, Affordable Care Act, and the
Board of Regents Policies desired
