BABSON COLLEGE invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Innovation and Operations Management beginning in fall 2022.  While our expectation is to appoint at the Assistant Professor level, in exceptional cases we will consider appointments at the rank of Associate Professor. 

 A Ph.D. in Operations Management or a closely related field is required prior to September 2022. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service. The candidate should be engaged in rigorous research that is practically relevant to business managers. We are especially interested in candidates who are involved, or are willing to be involved, with innovative teaching approaches and materials. Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate classes in core operations management with the potential to teach upper level electives in an area of expertise. We are interested in all strong candidates who would be a good fit with Babson and who are engaged in exciting emerging fields in operations management, broadly defined.  This could include a focus on product design, service operations, the role of AI and machine learning in operations, behavioral operations, digital operations, crowdsourcing innovation, scaling operations, sustainable firms and supply chains, decision sciences, entrepreneurial operations, or other emergent domains.  

Division Summary: The Operations and Information Management Division at Babson College includes faculty with expertise teaching and researching issues related to evolving technologies that accelerate and change the nature of the design, development, production, and distribution of information, products, and services.  The current opening is for the area of our division focused on Innovation and Operations Management, and current faculty in this area are engaged in research and teaching on issues including crowdsourced innovation, sustainability, health-care operations, product design, and strategic issues in operations. Our faculty publish in a wide range of outlets including journals of the Academy of Management, POMS, IEEE, and INFORMS as well as having a regular presence in practitioner outlets such as Sloan Management Review and Harvard Business Review.
