Job Description:

OFFICIAL TITLE: Staff Associate, Sports Information Director

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director of Athletics

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Staff Assistant, Intramural Coordinator/Assistant Sports Information
Coordinator for purposes of sports information only, and student employees, as assigned.

General Statement of Duties: The Staff Assistant, Sports Information Director will be responsible for media and public relations of the athletics department. The incumbent will also assume responsibilities associated with hosting intercollegiate home sporting events.

Responsibilities:

(E) Serves as the public relations representative for all intercollegiate sports sponsored at Worcester State University which includes the compiling and reporting of all statistical data and reports.
(E) Establishes a good working relationship with area media and conference personnel.
(E) Collaborates with Worcester State University Public Relations department on various projects.
(E) Interfaces with Worcester State University Printing and Publishing department to create, develop and produce collateral materials including brochures, press guides, game programs and media releases.
(E) Maintains department web page with updated and accurate information.
(E) Monitors and stays current with a department social media needs.
(E) Attends home intercollegiate contests or arranges for professional staff coverage of event if unavailable.
(E) Responsible for creation of Athletic Department graphics.
(E) Manages Video Board content on campus
(E) Develops and manages a marketing plan for all intercollegiate programs and the Athletic Department.
(E) Maintains alumni athletic records and serves as liaison with the Alumni Office.
(E) Assists the Contest Manager with control in areas of student support staff, game management personnel and sports information.
(E) Maintains a positive working relationship with all coaches, athletic and college personnel.
(E) Plans, organizes and directs all live video streaming.
(E) Acts as Sports Photographer for many intercollegiate sporting events on campus.
(E) Serves as the Project Manager for the Annual Sports Award Banquet.
(E) Prepares and submits reports as requested.
(E) Serves on selection committees for Athletic Department personnel and on college or divisional committees as assigned
(E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-service oriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff and students.
(E) Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan.
(E) Responsible for contributing to Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action objectives.
Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Possess academic credentials and/or experience suitable to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrates ability to plan, organize and supervise the work required to operate a successful Sports Information Office.
  • Knowledge of web site management and statistical software.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations necessary for the operation of a Division III athletic program.
  • Demonstrates ability to express oneself effectively in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to successfully pass a thorough background and CORI check.

The firm annual salary range for this full-time, exempt, benefited APA position is: $45,000 - $53,000.
