Job Description:

OFFICIAL TITLE: Staff Assistant, CBI Program Manager

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director of the Center for Business and Industry (CBI)

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Instructors/Facilitators

General Statement of Duties: The Program Manager in the Center for Business and Industry is responsible for sales, marketing, development, and implementation of corporate training and career education programs for partner businesses and individuals served by the Center on-site, online, on campus, or a combination. This position requires excellent relationship building skills, a collaborative mindset, and strong problem-solving abilities with an orientation towards achieving goals and outcomes. The focus of the Center is to meet the education and training needs of company partners and other constituents through high quality non-credit and credit programs, courses, and workshops.

Responsibilities:

(E) Oversees all aspects of training delivery from initial meeting to evaluation.
(E) Assesses training needs in collaboration with company partners and recommend appropriate solutions.
(E) Identifies, recruits, and supports instructors/facilitators that have desired subject-matter expertise.
(E) Sells and markets contract training and career education programs, courses, and workshops.
(E) Collaborates with team to design, develop, implement, and evaluate new courses and workshops.
(E) Attends various networking events to connect with the business community and generate leads.
(E) Prepares contract training proposals using approved fee schedule for partners.
(E) Assists with creation and distribution of marketing collateral.
(E) Supervises contract training instructors/facilitators.
(E) Seeks out grant-funded opportunities including Workforce Training Fund Program grants.
(E) Manages partner relationships to ensure successful program delivery.
(E) Prepares, edits, and revises training materials.
(E) Manages vendor relationships.
(E) Meets yearly individual revenue and department goals.
(E) Collaborates with University departments.
(E) Serves as a liaison to internal and external constituents.
(E) Works some nights and weekends, as necessary.
(E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-service oriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff and students.
(E) Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan.
(E) Responsible for contributing to Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action objectives.
Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, project management, adult education, or related field.
  • Effective spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Experience performing business development activities (ex. attending networking events, making cold calls)
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to rapidly changing priorities and/or environments.
  • Experience providing effective customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to travel regularly to events, training sites, and company locations.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to successfully pass a thorough background and CORI check.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of or experience in program development, continuing education, higher education, corporate training, community education, or workforce development.
  • Experience managing projects.
  • Experience presenting to both small and large audiences.

The firm annual salary range for this full-time, exempt, benefited APA position is: $45,000 - $50,000.
