Assistant Professor of Accounting
Gary W. Rollins College of Business, Department of Accounting
University of Tennessee, Chattanooga

Description
The Gary W. Rollins College of Business (RCOB) at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty at the rank of assistant professor beginning in the fall of 2022. We are primarily interested in candidates who have a teaching interest in Accounting Information Systems and/or Accounting Analytics. Preference will be given to candidates with a secondary teaching interest in Financial Accounting or Managerial Accounting.

The Department of Accounting in the RCOB provides a collegial work environment in which faculty support each other and their students; we are interested in identifying faculty who want to make UTC their long-term home. Faculty are encouraged to find their teaching and research passion and pursue those interests. We foster a diverse environment including three student organizations in accounting (BAP, IMA, and NABA). The RCOB also sponsors a Veterans Entrepreneurship Program that is highly respected.

Salary and benefits are competitive with peer institutions. Responsibilities include teaching nine credit hours per semester, conducting research leading to quality refereed journal publications and conference presentations, and providing service at the Department, College, and/or University level.

The RCOB has long-standing AACSB accreditation at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as supplemental accreditation in accounting. The RCOB serves approximately 2,400 students, and has a highly productive, collegial faculty. The Accounting Department has both undergraduate and graduate programs in accounting, including a forensic, data analytics track at the graduate level. In addition, the RCOB currently houses a joint Master of Science in Data Analytics program in partnership with the Computer Science Department, an undergraduate concentration in Business Analytics, a 100% online MBA program as well as a flexible MBA program with data analytics concentration, and a graduate-level data analytics certificate program.

Qualifications
Qualified applicants must possess or complete a doctorate in accounting, or closely related field, from an AACSB-accredited business school or be in the ABD stage of their doctoral studies with expected completion of the Ph.D. prior to this position’s start date of August 2022. Candidates must have a track record of producing quality research through working papers or publications. Candidates must have an interest in teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses. Teaching experience, and business experience are desirable. Candidates with a professional license (CPA, IMA, CISA, or related international certificates) are preferred. Candidates interested in working closely with the business community in both teaching and research are encouraged to apply.

In addition to teaching, the selected candidate is required to actively participate in professional activities sufficient to maintain appropriate qualifications under AACSB standards. The candidate is expected to participate in student engagement activities, mentoring, and on-line classes. Strong candidates will have compelling evidence of teaching effectiveness and relevant business work experience. Review of applications will begin immediately, focusing on candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.
