The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) at Florida State University is seeking a Specialized Teaching faculty (non-tenure track) for the online specialist, master’s and modified programs in Educational Leadership and Administration that lead to Florida Educational Leadership certification. The faculty member will hold a twelve-month contract, teaching four courses in each of the Fall and Spring semesters and two courses during the Summer semester.

The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to develop the next generation of school leaders, joining the faculty in a department and college committed to reshaping the field and preparing leaders who are uniquely effective for improving education and learning. Our online program emphasizes strong academic training, practical application of content, and connections with field experts as evidenced by our students’ success on the Florida Educational Leadership Examination – ranked first in the state. Program objectives are research- and theory-based, aligned with state leadership standards and developed in collaboration between practitioners and faculty of the department. Students graduating from the program serve as formal and informal leaders in schools and districts throughout the state. More information about the program is available at education.fsu.edu/eda.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching four online courses in the Fall and Spring terms and two courses during the Summer term with a course reduction possible if paired with administrative duties.
  • Contributing to the development and revision of courses taught in the program in
  • accordance to state approved program criteria.
  • Advising students within assigned courses.

 

Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy/Administration
  • Formal leadership experience in K-12 educational settings
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as an online/classroom teacher, working with students of varying backgrounds
  • Evidence of commitment to professional development and scholarship in the field

 

Preferences:

  • Knowledge and experience in learning management systems and online teaching pedagogy
