Brief Summary of Work for this Position
- To function as an employee of the Landscape Services Section, to perform general grounds maintenance to include trash pickup, new landscaping, irrigation repair, edging, pruning, mowing, general manicuring of all campus properties, housing areas, parking lot maintenance and other associated duties as determined by supervisor or administration
- Position is also considered a part of essential personnel who can be asked to work outside of normal schedule due to emergency events or weather crisis
- Subject to overtime
- This position may install equipment related to landscape functions
- May operate backhoe, sprayers and other skilled equipment as directed
- This position will be responsible for the proper care and storage of equipment
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
- A working knowledge of landscape maintenance and ability to operate large and small equipment
- An agricultural background is helpful; also any background in maintenance of equipment, sidewalks and roadways is also helpful
- Must demonstrate good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate information to coworkers as well as provide information to the general public in a courteous and informed manner
- Must demonstrate an understanding of the safe and proper handling of equipment and machinery associated with landscape functions
