QUALIFICATIONS: The Department of Family & Consumer Studies (FCS) at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin July 2022.  FCS seeks a candidate with training in the area of human development who will strengthen our program’s capacity on infant and child development in diverse ecological contexts. We are especially interested in scholars who integrate cultural, interpersonal, and individual aspects of development and whose work can enhance our department’s interdisciplinary and innovative research on grand challenges affecting children’s optimal development. For example, candidates’ research might examine how social inequities affect infant and child development in low-resource communities; or implementation models that bolster early childhood education or counter toxic stress, or person-context processes (e.g., parenting, teaching, child care) that promote children’s mental health, resilience, and optimal development.  Candidates should have an excellent publication and teaching record, commensurate with experience, and show potential for extramural funding.  Applicants must have a Ph.D. in the social sciences by the time of appointment.  Successful candidates will be committed to working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and to enhancing undergraduate and graduate education.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research and teaching statements, two writing samples or publications, a list of three references, and a statement on the candidate’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion to https://utah.peopleadmin.com/postings/118323.  Review of applications will begin October 1st and will continue until the position is filled.  Information about the Department of Family & Consumer Studies can be found at http://www.fcs.utah.edu. Information on how the University of Utah College of Social and Behavioral Science promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion can be found at https://csbs.utah.edu/diversity/index.php.  Inquiries regarding the position may be directed to the Faculty Search Committee Chair, Dr. Lori Kowaleski-Jones (u0155464@umail.utah.edu).
