Department Summary
The Department of Biology is an instructional and research department within the College of Arts and Sciences that supports significant research activities in a wide range of fields in the Biology discipline including neuroscience, genetics, cell and developmental biology, evolution, ecology, and marine biology. The Department includes approximately 50 teaching faculty, emeritus faculty, graduate students, and professional/administrative staff. The Department enrolls approximately 1,200 Biology majors and 100 graduate students.

Position Summary
The Department of Biology is soliciting applications for its open applicant instructor pool. Positions may be part-time, temporary, or limited duration appointments not to exceed one year. There is a possibility of renewal for up to a total of three years, depending on need, funding, and performance. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond three years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance. Areas most needed for academic year 2021-2022 are marine biology, animal physiology, microbiology and biochemistry, and cellular biology. Positions in other areas may arise at short notice.

Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis and screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.

Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree in biology or a closely related field

    Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in biology or a closely related field
  • A minimum of one course teaching experience is strongly preferred
