About the Opportunity:
The Associate Director has responsibility for the administrative aspects of CPS's hybrid executive-style Doctor of Law and Policy Program. Reporting to the Faculty Director, the Associate Director provides leadership in all non-teaching facets of the program. He/she develops operational systems and analyzes outcomes for all aspects of the DLP including recruitment, admissions, enrollment, faculty support, student affairs, budgetary review, and program evaluation. He/she creates processes and interfaces with multiple units within and outside of CPS, NU, and outside providers, ensuring all aspects of the DLP are aligned with the strategic goals of CPS, maintaining academic relevance in a dynamic and changing field of professional doctorates, and are academically and financially viable.

Responsibilities:
50% - PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION
  • Design, oversee, and evaluate all operational systems within the DLP doctoral program.
  • Develop, refine and analyze effective operational systems including liaising with assistant deans, directors, budget office staff, customer service reps, enrollment coaches, recruiters, marketing staff, and outside vendors.
  • Provide leadership for all operational aspects of the DLP including faculty assignments, course scheduling, student recruitment, admissions, enrollment and evaluations, ensuring that all aspects of the curriculum are aligned with the program's strategic goals and student learning outcomes.
  • Systematize and execute processes for managing all curriculum changes and program redesigns to ensure that course offerings continue to be market-relevant, are well aligned to the program's desired student outcomes, and are responsive to the unique needs of CPS's only multi-disciplinary graduate program.
  • Develop systems for all aspects of student affairs within the DLP, including advising, flagging students of concern, managing student probation and academic dismissal, academic dishonesty, and leaves of absence for medical or other reasons.
  • Coordinate and oversee all DLP service providers including Broad Street staff and other outside vendors.
  • In consultation with the Faculty Director, create the schedule and itinerary for all weekend intensives, the student orientation, and the two trips.
  • Design the two DLP trips - the Washington December Initiative and the July overseas program -- with the goal of aligning each speaker and/or appointment with program goals, along with logistics. Identify appropriate vendors and negotiate and create service contracts.

10% - BUDGET AND ENROLLMENT ANALYSIS AND ASSESSMENT
  • Analyze all budgetary and financial aspects of the program, including faculty contracts and expenses, enrollment figures and budgetary projections.
  • Gather and analyze enrollment statistics, with an eye toward leveraging resources from all NU campuses.
  • Monitor enrollment goals.
  • Oversee budget processing for the program, (i.e. payments for invoices, etc.)

15% - MARKETING AND ADMISSIONS
  • Create and design unique recruitment events to reach mid-level and senior executives from multiple cities outside the Northeast; exploit CPS resources at other campuses, traveling if necessary; organize DLP faculty to engage in high level prospective student outreach as necessary.
  • Develop partnerships with sponsoring organizations that will act as pipelines for prospective students.
  • Collaborate with division marketing specialist in the design, development, and management of division collateral pieces and website to ensure marketing efforts are aligned with strategic goals for the DLP.
  • Analyze lead data on a regular basis and report any significant problems to the Faculty Director.
  • Monitor website to ensure reflection of accurate and current program/course information.
  • Design and administer a robust admissions process and develop appropriate communications for matriculated students in consultation with the admissions and enrollment coaching team.

15% - FACULTY AND STUDENT SYSTEMS FOR QUALITY AND EVALUATION
  • Develop and oversee processes to ensure high quality Weekend Intensive experiences for students and faculty to ensure those efforts are aligned with aim to provide high quality on-ground experiences.
  • Develop and implement systems to ensure all faculty (both full time and adjunct) have access to information, resources, policies, faculty meetings, and any additional support in in a highly collaborative setting.
  • Collaborate closely with the Faculty Director and other faculty to develop, refine and implement Academic Quality Assurance measures and evaluation processes.

10% - LAUNCH OF CHARLOTTE DLP PROGRAM EXPANSION
  • In collaboration with Faculty Director, oversee launch of Charlotte campus DLP Program expansion
  • Prepare documents for FD review for submission
  • Site Visits as needed to prepare for launch of program

Qualifications:
Master's degree required with 4-5 years of executive level operational/managerial experience, preferably in some aspect of higher education at the graduate level. Ability to exercise independent judgment on programmatic and financial issues; must be able to work well with many constituencies: adult students, faculty from multiple disciplines, CPS internal support staff and outside vendors. Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) required. Required to work one weekend per month (Friday nights until 9pm, Saturday 8am-9pm, Sunday 8am-4pm), and required to travel twice a year - one week in December to Washington, D.C. or other domestic venue; one week in summer to an overseas locale.
