Summary
The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track, academic year assistant/associate professorship in Exercise Physiology. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology (or a closely related discipline), evidence of scholarly activity in their field, a demonstrated interest in health and wellness, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. A successful candidate will have teaching experience and a research agenda. The position calls for developing and teaching undergraduate courses in our newly approved BS Exercise Physiology degree program. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop electives in their areas of interest.

You will have the opportunity to:
  • Develop new courses during your first year of employment including; Care and Prevention of Injuries, Introduction to Exercise Science, Sports Psychology, Motor Learning and Control, and Advanced Exercise Physiology w/lab.
  • Assist in teaching courses currently offered at the University during your first two years as well as teaching Care and Prevention of Injuries and Introduction to Exercise Science in your second year.
  • Teach a 3/3 load of courses starting in your third year of employment.
  • Develop an active research program and mentor undergraduate research.
  • Provide service to the University through advising students, advising student organizations, and faculty committee responsibilities.


  • Qualifications
    To succeed in this role you will need:
  • A Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology (or a closely related discipline) completed by the date of appointment.
  • Experience teaching (which can include graduate teaching assistantships) courses at the undergraduate level.
  • Promise in building an active and sustained research program involving undergraduate students.
  • An American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or other related national certification.
  • To participate in professional and scholarly societies and develop working relationships with public and private funding agencies.
  • Demonstrated support for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
