Job Description:

Amherst College invites applications for the Amherst Fund Coordinator position. The Amherst Fund Coordinator is a full-time, year-round position, job group and level AO-4. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the w ays in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.

The Amherst Fund Coordinator provides administrative support for the Associate Director of the Annual Fund and the Director of 50th Reunion Programs (Classes of 1943-1994); manages fundraising with widows, and friends. The person in this position also supports the recurring giving program; sends out monthly volunteer updates on behalf of Amherst Fund; and acts as shared back-up to the Receptionist.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

Class-Based Duties: Runs queries, produces reports, and prepares packets for Amherst Fund (AF) volunteers; prepares fundraising mailings for 40+ alumni classes, widows, and friends; responds to and assists AF volunteers with requests for information or reports; and enters contacts/remarks/volunteer information into the database. Collaborate with Amherst Fund staff to manage communications for a diverse set of volunteers.

Support the Associate Director of the Amherst Fund and the Director of 50th Reunion Programs in all aspects of solicitations (direct mail, email, web, phonathon, etc.), utilizing creative strategies to increase alumni participation.

Amherst Fund Communications: Assists with volunteer emails, general mailings, and events. Supports communications and reporting for recurring gift program in ways that effectively support and engage a diverse alumni body. Helps maintain Amherst Fund supply inventory.

Back-up receptionist: Covers daily morning/afternoon breaks and lunches, vacations, personal days, etc. Uses Remote Desktop to do class-based work from Front Desk.

Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 - 3 years related experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time-management, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • A commitment to successfully engaging a diverse alumni body, and to positively contributing to an intentionally inclusive culture
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and as a member of a team
  • Some evening/weekend work during special events
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word and Excel programs and ability to learn new software

Preferred:
  • Associate's or four-year degree
  • More than 3 years related experience
  • Experience working with databases and reporting environments
