Northern Arizona University’s School of Communication is conducting a search for an Assistant Professor of Practice for our Creative Media & Film (CMF) program. This position is teaching-focused and at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice. Although renewal is contingent on performance and departmental needs, the position is expected to be continuing, with potential for promotion. The typical teaching load is 4-4. Creative Media & Film enrolls over 300 majors in three emphasis areas: Documentary, Independent Filmmaking, and Media Studies, and is located in the School of Communication in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences (see https://nau.edu/sbs/communication/).

The School of Communication also has a Master of Arts degree in Communication, including an emphasis in Documentary Studies (see http://nau.edu/docstudies).

Job Description

This position is primarily responsible for teaching a range of lower and upper-division classes in the CMF major (including Cinematic Storytelling, Introduction to Screenwriting, Introduction to Filmmaking, senior capstone classes), as well as courses in the Independent Filmmaking and Documentary emphases (Filmmaking Techniques, Postproduction, Fiction Directing, and/or Documentary). There may be opportunities to teach and advise Master’s student's projects in documentaries.

Additional duties include service to the CMF area, the School, and the University. Salary Commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
