Director of Marketing & Communications - College of Engineering and Technology

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
Utah Valley University is looking for a director of marketing and communications to represent our ever-growing College of Engineering and Technology (CET). This is an embedded position that operates under the purview of UVU's central Marketing and Communications and serves as a dedicated director to the portfolio of CET. This position will work collaboratively with central Marketing and Communications that operates as a full-service agency within the university.
If you have experience in identifying and building long-term relationships with target audiences, have a passion for helping students succeed, and love all things marketing and communications, we'd like to meet you! Ultimately, you will act as our brand's voice to support students and build community partners.

This team member will work with the dean of the college to understand immediate and long-term objectives and collaborate to create, execute, and manage holistic strategies that achieve the goals of the college. This team member will be required to stay up on accomplishments, projects, and events within the area and communicate this information to appropriate internal and external parties. Gather newsworthy information about the school, departments, students, faculty, and staff. Coordinate and recommend campaign and marketing assets (digital or print) for the college and school (i.e., brochures, digital billboards, social ads, marketing materials, news releases, announcements, digital signage, print materials, and mailings). Develop and maintain a social media presence for these groups. Alert the program directors of community, social media, and business trends or developments that have an impact on the college's initiatives. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree, plus five years of relevant marketing and Communications experience OR a combination of relevant education and experience totaling ten years. Graduate degree in related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of effective marketing and communication strategies.
  • Knowledge in integrated marketing tactics that leverage digital and traditional marketing analytics. Data-driven in creating and managing strategies.
  • Knowledge of social media formats for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Snapchat
  • Knowledge of SEO and SMO.
  • Knowledge of AB testing.
  • Knowledge of prepress for print.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works cross-functionally with public relations, writing, creative teams, and community partners to amplify the priorities and goals of the college.
  • Skills in various software programs including Final Cut Pro/Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Skills in Facebook PowerEditor, SocialBakers, email marketing, SEOptimer, native analytic tools for each primary social platform, and Google Analytics.
  • Skills in utilizing psychographic and demographic data to target affinity groups across platforms. Skills in forecasting targeted reach, engagement, and budget to achieve conversion goals.
  • Skills in monitoring KPIs to guide campaigns through optimization and completion.
  • Skills in creating campaign reports during flight and at conclusion to communicate and performance manage campaigns.
  • Skills in content management systems like OmniUpdate preferred.
  • Skills in proficiency with Dreamweaver and HTML preferred.
  • Skills in photography, videography, and editing preferred.
  • Skills in MacOS preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong networking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with other departments and businesses.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines despite conflicting demands on time. Ability to be organized and detail-oriented.


Preferred Qualifications:
Previous agency experience or experience working with full service marketing teams. Masters degree in related field.

Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a normal office environment.

Pay Range: $54,865 - $68,582
