The School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Purdue University seeks to attract exceptional candidates with expertise in Semiconductor Manufacturing and Advanced Packaging with core expertise in areas including thermomechanical modeling and characterization of devices and packages, semiconductor device and package fabrication, assembly process development, characterization of electronic materials, and sustainable electronics. Exceptional candidates will be considered at the rank of a full professor. Outstanding candidates in other research areas supporting the development and manufacturing of advanced microelectronics will also be considered. Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and demonstrate excellent potential to build an independent research program, as well as potential to educate and mentor students.  The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the School, College, and University levels.

 

The School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University is ranked 7th nationally for undergraduate programs and 8th for graduate programs by U.S. News and World Report. The School is one of the largest at Purdue University, and in the nation, with 1493 undergraduates, 747 graduate students, 90 faculty, and 69 staff. The School is home of the Herrick, Zucrow and Maha research laboratories with significant infrastructure and a long tradition of collaboration with industry, national laboratories, and other universities. Mechanical Engineering faculty members also carry out a significant portion of research at the Birck Nanotechnology Center. The Bechtel Innovation Design Center and Maker Spaces provide hands-on experiences together with an entrepreneurship ecosystem through the Purdue Foundry and Discovery Park.
