The University of Chicago Crown School of Social Work, Policy and Practice (Crown Family School) invites applicants for a tenure track, open rank position to start on or after July 1, 2022, whose scholarship advances the field of child welfare. The scholarship of ideal candidates will consider innovative approaches to child welfare policy, practice, and/or services and reflect methodological rigor. We seek scholars who think critically about child welfare policies and practices, recognizing the historical and ongoing structures of oppression that these systems enact, sustain, or are embedded within. Candidates are expected to possess a record of accomplishment in publications and grant support commensurate with level of experience. The candidates' child welfare scholarship could have an international or domestic U.S. focus.

Applicants must possess a doctorate (or have a doctorate by the date of appointment) in social work or a related social science field. Applicants with a master's and/or doctorate in social work are strongly preferred. Applicants should submit a cover letter, a Curriculum Vita, a statement that outlines research and teaching interests, a sample of 2-3 current writings (applicants at the dissertation stage should include part or all of their dissertation), and contact information for at least three references. Consideration of applications will begin on September 30, 2021, and will continue until the position is filled or the search is closed; early submission is encouraged.
