Assistant Director for Affinity & Inclusive Engagement

Randolph-Macon College, a private, co-educational liberal arts institution, invites applications for a full-time Assistant Director for Affinity & Inclusive Engagement. Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement, this individual will be responsible for serving as the Alumni Relations’ liaison for affinity groups and reunion classes with an emphasis on serving and growing engagement for underrepresented alumni populations, including R-MC’s Multicultural Alumni Association. This includes planning, creating, implementing, and maintaining alumni programs that foster strong relationships and goodwill with alumni of Randolph-Macon College. The Assistant Director for Affinity and Inclusive Engagement will work with alumni leaders of affinity groups to increase awareness of involvement opportunities and to encourage volunteerism and participation in alumni events or College initiatives.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Staff the Multicultural Alumni Association Advisory Council by handling the logistics of its meetings, staffing its committees, and ensuring strong and productive relationships between its members and the academic and administrative leadership.
  • Help to support the development of successful alumni programming, finding ways to engage alumni in meaningful and rewarding ways to build and foster positive alumni relationships.
  • Build relationships with campus partners that have a vested interest in underrepresented populations and serve as a champion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by connecting affinity groups.
  • Equip alumni volunteers with the training and tools necessary to better understand diversity awareness and incorporate inclusive practices into their programming.
  • Steward relationships with alumni volunteers through personal outreach, representing the office at alumni events and traveling to conduct in-person visits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Alumni and/or development programs experience preferred with demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leadership.
  • Availability for evening and weekend work and willingness to travel required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities.
  • High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information.
