The Nuclear Engineering (NE) Program in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Exceptional candidates with research interests in the area of artificial intelligence (AI) applied to all areas of Nuclear Engineering are being considered. Example areas of interest include:
  • Radiochemistry
  • Plasma physics and fusion
  • Advanced reactor concepts
  • Reactor physics
  • Thermal hydraulics
  • Nuclear materials
  • Radiation detection
The NE Program in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) in the HWCOE at UF is a dynamic program built around leading expertise and facilities that is poised to influence the future of Nuclear Engineering. The NE Program offers an ABET-accredited B.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Nuclear Engineering Sciences. Research is central to the success of the program and new faculty will be expected to initiate and sustain strong sponsored research and graduate training programs.

The program provides an integrated NE education addressing a wide array of topics, including radiation detection, nuclear materials, reactor physics, and thermal hydraulics. New faculty will be expected to continue the tradition of both developing and teaching NE courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Eligible applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Nuclear Engineering or a related field. Postdoctoral research experience and a record of successful proposal writing, mentoring and classroom teaching of undergraduate and graduate students is preferred.
