Working Title: Admissions Counselor - Latinx/Hispanic Community Liaison Official Title: Associate Student Services Coordinator Employment Class: Non-Instructional Academic Staff FTE: 1.0 Compensation: $40,000 FLSA Status: Exempt Terms of Employment: 12-month, Annual, Fixed Term Renewable Position Summary:

The Admissions Counselor - Latinx/Hispanic Community Liaison will be a member of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh undergraduate recruitment and enrollment team in the Admissions Office. The counselor will serve as a University ambassador and liaison with prospective students, parents/families, high school staff and other community members throughout the state and region. A focus of this position is the recruitment, enrollment and support of Latinx/Hispanic students.

Responsibilities
  1. 30% - Recruit, enroll and support Latinx/Hispanic students through high school visits, college fairs, on campus visit opportunities, community events, email, social media and web-based resources. Develop strategies to recruit and enroll students and assess outcomes of recruitment efforts.
  2. 20% - Establish, nurture and maintain relationships with both on-campus and off-campus constituents that will benefit Latinx/Hispanic students and enhance recruitment efforts in this community. Develop a network of resources and support for students.
  3. 20% - Meet with prospective students and other guests in the admissions office providing a University overview as well as guiding students through the admissions process. In addition to meeting with students during the week, the counselor is expected to share in a Saturday rotation schedule September through May.
  4. 20 % - Serve as a University representative for high school visits and fairs, college nights and other college programs. Extensive travel is expected September through November, and occasionally at other times of the year, including night and some weekend travel throughout Wisconsin and parts of Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota.
  5. 10% - Assist with other projects and office responsibilities as necessary, based on skill set.
Qualifications Required:
  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
  3. Strong cross-cultural interpersonal skills
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
  5. Proven ability to work collaboratively among units and organizations
  6. Lived experience and/or professional experience working with those of the Latinx/Hispanic community and culture.
  7. Ability to communicate in Spanish
Preferred:
  1. Master’s degree
  2. Experience working in admissions or other related student services area at the post-secondary level
  3. Experience working with multicultural students
