Department of Psychology, Assistant Professor of Psychology. Elon University seeks applicants for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Psychology to begin mid-August 2022. This position is open to candidates who have completed or expect to complete a Ph.D. in any area of psychology by that time. Though the area of psychology is open, we are seeking candidates whose teaching and scholarship focus on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Candidates must show evidence of high-quality teaching at the undergraduate level. The ability to maintain a sustained research agenda that actively incorporates undergraduate mentees into one’s program of research is essential. Elon employs a Teacher-Scholar-Mentor model of faculty engagement, with faculty typically teaching six courses per year. Elon is committed to supporting faculty as teacher-scholar-mentors through the provision of excellent teaching spaces, research facilities and support, and professional development resources.

Teaching will include foundational courses within the major that are suited to the candidate’s expertise (e.g., Introductory Psychology, Lifespan Development, Social Psychology, Research Methods, etc.), advanced or special topics courses that educate students on important DEI topics, and courses in the Elon Core Curriculum. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are encouraged to identify their experiences in their cover letter.
